Your Body is Talking

Your Body is Talking- Are you Listening?

Question yourself

Take a moment, right now… Check-in with your body and just notice? Start at the top of your head and work your way down to your toes. What areas of the body feel relaxed? Where do you feel a little tension or pain? Maybe you don’t notice anything in a certain area. Or maybe you feel a disconnect. Be curious and notice…….

Clear messages

Many times, it is very clear what your body is saying to you. After a hard day at work you come home exhausted and know your body is saying, “Enough, it is time to rest!” Or, you may get off the treadmill and feel energized, both mentally and physically. We even use the phrases such as, “That really drained me”, or “I feel pumped!”

Subtle Messages

But, what are you noticing the rest of the day? Are you paying attention to those subtle messages that your body is sending? If you are like many of us, you may only listen when your body is screaming at you. In fact, if listening to your body sounds like a foreign concept to you, you are not alone.

Important Questions

As a massage therapist and body worker I am constantly asking my clients, “What are you noticing?” This may be one of the most important questions I will ever ask them. I ask it several times; during the initial intake session, at key moments throughout the session and after they get off the table. Initially, I may get a confused look. But over time. as they continue to listen and tune into their body, the light bulb goes off and they begin to see the connections. I do this for several reasons:

Reasons for listening to your Body

  1. Our body is ALWAYS talking to us and giving us information.
  2. Most of us have never learned to truly listen to our body. In fact, we may have been taught not to listen. We tune it out, or even worse we turn off this vital alarm system.
  3. Noticing and listening to the body on a regular basis creates a HABIT. This habit gives us information as we notice the quiet subtle cues that present themselves.
  4. Information is power and it gives us a CHOICE when it comes to our health and well-being.

Empowering yourself with this information

If we are noticing and listening to our body, then we are empowered with a feedback loop of valuable information that can help us to transform the nagging stress and pain in our body into more freedom, ease and joy.

30 days Begin NOW

So now as you begin this 30 Day Challenge… one of the first things we are asking you to do before you do anything else is to just be curious and NOTICE. No judgement, just tune in and listen to what your body has to say.

I am a testament to moving at a pace faster than my body’s signals. I was forced to listen to big cues over the last few months. While dealing with a stressful situation it was brought to light via “signals”how I had forgotten to listen to my body and its needs. And I am a bodyworker!! I am now on track and thank my body for speaking to me all the time. Next up…routine and rituals for me.
    Thank you Julie and Yael!

Claudia- Thank you for sharing how how even those of us who are body workers can get off track. I am so happy you are committed to finding the routines and rituals that work for you. Please continue to share with us as you progress through the challenge and let us know how we can support you.

Good morning! I am sitting here after a restful nights sleep and a healthy breakfast. Sedona lends itself to self care.
I have had a kind of on and off “buzzy”sensation most notably in my head.
I checked in with my body and have an odd muscle pull left triceps and what feels like deep axillary area. Woke with it. Lots of energy work yesterday to process. My legs are ready to get out and play. My mind wants to wander. A free play day!
So only one cuppa Joe this am. Will eat light today.
Wondering how to integrate this healing Buzz with my day to day at home !
